Carn Eige is the highest of all the mountains north of the Great Glen, and forms the culminating point of the great range of peaks on the north side of beautiful Glen Affric. It is almost always climbed together with its twin and near neighbour, Mam Sodhail.

Other routes and challenges
The quickest approach to both Carn Eige and Mam Sodhail is by the path up the Allt Coire Leachavie, but it would be a shame to omit the fine east ridge traversed on the route given above.
For the truly superfit, the massive challenge hereabouts is the complete Mullardoch round, following ridges that can take in up to 12 Munros, usually accomplished as a lightweight backpacking route.
