Derry Cairngorm is often mistaken for Ben Macdui in views from Deeside, its great summit cone rising above the foothills. It is one of the best viewpoints for Ben Macdui, seen above the grand Coire Uaine.

Other routes and challenges

Derry Cairngorm lends itself to inclusion in a variety of different combinations. On its own, it would make a good circuit ascending via Carn Crom and descending via the Hutchison hut.

The Ben Macdui route above could be extended by first ascending Carn a' Mhaim to make an excellent round of three Munros.
