Sgùrr a' Mhàim is on a projecting spur to the north of the main Mamores ridge. The summit is covered in quartzite sometimes mistaken for snow from Glen Nevis. The link to the Mamores is along the airy 'Devil's Ridge'.

The route given above is the classic 4 Munro challenge, approaching Sgùrr a' Mhàim via the Devil's Ridge. For an easier walk, the mountain could be climbed on its own from Glen Nevis via the descent route given.

The classic epic challenge for the hyper-fit is to traverse the whole Mamores ridge in a day - a major undertaking. There are eight Munros on or close to the main ridge itself, plus two eastern outliers which are traditionally included.
