A twin to neighbouring Stob a'Choire Mheadhoin, Stob Coire Easain shows a steep face to the northeast. This lengthy ridge lies between the deep trench of Loch Treig - traversed by the West Highland railway line - and the Lairig Leacach pass.

The route given above is almost invariably used for ascents of both Munros on the ridge.

Other possibilities include an approach from the Lairig Leacach, or from the head of Loch Treig - perhaps as long traverse, heading up the south ridge on a route between Corrour and Tulloch stations.
