Historic Ballater bridge reopens

Polhollick Footbridge, an important link on the popular Seven Bridges walk near Ballater, has reopened following major repairs.

Polhollick Bridge

The historic suspension bridge over the Dee was almost destroyed by raging floodwaters caused by Storm Frank in 2015. The same storm caused extensive flooding in nearby Ballater causing major problems for numerous local businesses and causing many people to be evacuated.

The bridge which was originally built in 1892 had only just undergone a £420,000 upgrade when Storm Frank struck. The repairs have been undertaken and funded by Aberdeenshire Council with some assistance from the Scottish Government.
