Still time to donate unwanted gear

Gift Your Gear, the outdoor gear recycling initiative, will be accepting donations in all Rohan stores until 5 October.
Drop off your unwanted waterproofs, fleeces, outdoor trousers, insulated jackets, hats and gloves regardless of brand including children’s clothing at any Rohan Shop and receive 15% off a full priced purchase made the same day as a qualifying Gift Your Gear donation.

Gift Your Gear is the brainchild of Rohan founder Sarah Howcroft and cleverly matches unwanted outdoor gear with UK community organisations, youth groups and charities working with young people in the outdoors.

Sarah, stresses the importance of reusing outdoor gear that still has plenty of life left in it, “Most outdoor gear will last much longer than we want or need it too, its full potential is never realised.

“The outdoor gear you donate will make a real difference to the community organisations, youth groups and charities who receive it. Enabling the next generation to benefit from life changing experiences in the great outdoors regardless of their circumstances.”

Gift Your Gear gear ask that all donations be clean and should be able to be reused for its original purpose. For example, tents should be complete and all clothing should be reusable without repair. They will accept:

Waterproof Outdoor Jackets
All and any Fleece
Walking and Technical Trousers and Salopettes
Hats gloves scarves and socks as long as they are suitable for the UK hills
Waterproof over trousers
All children’s outdoor clothing
Walking polls
Maps and guides

Pots and pans suitable for lightweight camping
Climbing gear will be sent to Green Park Gear

All reusable and fit for purpose gear is sent out to one of the 150 pre-approved Gift Your Gear charity and community groups working with young people in the outdoors. As well as donating at Rohan shops until 5 October you can also send items in the post via the website. For these items Gift Your Gear will email details of the charity that has received your donated gear.
