Strathfarrar Winter Access Arrangements

November 1st marks the start of the winter vehicular access arrangements for Strathfarrar. Since 2014 vehicular access (anyone can walk or bike along the private road) is only permitted for Mountaineering Scotland members for the purpose of hillwalking or climbing. Everyone in the car must be a member and walkers and climbers are required to give details of their contact details and objectives for the day which will be passed onto the Glenavon and Braulen Estates who own the road in Strathfarrar. Access through the locked gate is not allowed before 8am.

To get the combination for the padlocked gate email Mountaineering Scotland at info@mountaineering.scot or call 01738 493942 between 10.00am and 3pm, Monday to Thursday. Mountaineering Scotland says, “Do not leave your call until the Friday morning or the day of your intended visit as we may not be able to obtain agreement to your visit by estate staff.” These winter arrangements will remain in place until 23 March 2018. Further details, including the 3 locations the Estate allows parking during the winter, can be found on the Mountaineering Scotland website.

If you are not a member of the MCofS or want vehicular access for another reason during the winter then please contact Glenavon and Braulen Estates on 01463 761204 (during normal office hours) or email.
