{"id":20939,"date":"2020-06-25T13:39:10","date_gmt":"2020-06-25T13:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/?p=20939"},"modified":"2020-06-25T13:39:11","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T13:39:11","slug":"were-good-to-go-standard-launched-for-tourism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/were-good-to-go-standard-launched-for-tourism\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;re Good to Go standard launched for tourism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VisitScotland alongside the national tourism bodies of England, Northern Ireland and Wales have today announced a new UK-wide industry standard and consumer mark to provide confidence for visitors, communities and tourism businesses alike, as the sector works towards reopening.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"537\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gtglogo.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20941\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gtglogo.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gtglogo-279x300.jpg 279w, https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gtglogo-140x150.jpg 140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u2018We\u2019re Good To Go\u2019 industry standard and supporting mark mean businesses across all sectors of the tourism industry in Scotland can demonstrate that they are adhering to the respective Government and public health guidance, and have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment to check they have the required processes and protocols in place. \u00a0The free scheme complements the guidance already issued by the Scottish Government\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitscotland.org\/supporting-your-business\/advice\/coronavirus\">https:\/\/www.visitscotland.org\/supporting-your-business\/advice\/coronavirus<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scottish Government Tourism Secretary Fergus Ewing said:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cScotland\u2019s tourism sector has suffered terribly from the impacts of coronavirus. The Scottish Government has been doing all it can to help the sector through these challenging times and we continue to support tourism businesses as they prepare to open their doors again.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGood to Go is a really positive development, developed jointly by the four Visitor agencies across the UK, that will ensure the sector is as prepared as possible to welcome visitors again. I\u2019m pleased to see the establishment of this UK wide self-certification scheme that will enable businesses to demonstrate that they are ready to reopen and give much needed confidence to visitors and communities that tourism can begin again.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive of VisitScotland, said: \u201cTogether with the new national tourism and sector guidelines, the Good to Go Scheme will help businesses get ready for the indicative start dates in July. A nationwide scheme gives a consistent approach across all of the UK and will give visitors the reassurance they are looking for.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To obtain the mark businesses must complete a self-assessment which includes a checklist confirming they have put the necessary procedures in place, before receiving certification and the \u2018We\u2019re Good To Go\u2019 mark for display in their premises and online. \u00a0The Scottish guidance, which includes cleaning and meet and greet protocols, has been developed with input from industry experts including from the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions, the Association of Scotland\u2019s Self Caterers, Wild Scotland, Sail Scotland, the British Holiday<em>\u00a0&amp;\u00a0<\/em>Home Parks Association and the National Caravan Council.\u00a0The self-assessment process links to specific guidelines for sectors including accommodation, visitor attractions, restaurants and pubs, business conference and events venues and tour and coach operators with signposting to further industry and trade association guidance as required.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scotland&#8217;s First Minister announced this week that self catering accommodation with no shared facilities could re-open on 3 July. Outdoor pubs and cafes are set to re-open on 6 July with other visitor accommodation expected to open from 15 July along with indoor hospitality such as pubs and restaurants, as well as museums and galleries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many hotels, bed and breakfasts and campsites are all likely to be operating with much reduced capacity due to distancing rules and new procedures therefore advance bookings for any accommodation is strongly recommended.
