Three video clips in particular have achieved a phenomenal number of downloads.  These are: \u201cCrevasse rescue\u201d (39,000), \u201cRoping up for glaciers\u201d (30,000) and \u201cIce axe self arrest\u201d (23,700).<\/p>\n<p>However, the MCofS channel doesn\u2019t just contain videos about winter safety.  Videos about aspects of year-round mountain safety include \u201cWater hazards in the mountains\u201d, \u201cWhen lightning strikes\u201d and \u201cTicks\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>MCofS Mountaineering Development Officer, Kevin Howett, said: \u201cOur YouTube channel is providing a great service and lots of hill walkers and climbers are picking up some great tips from watching our videos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MCofS Membership Development Officer, Mike Dales, said: &#8220;The MCofS has put a lot of effort into making a series of safety related videos and DVDs; so it is fantastic that so many mountaineers are visiting our channel and learning from the clips that we are showing on our YouTube channel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The full length versions of the MCofS safety DVDs can be purchased by visiting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mcofs.org.uk\/shop-dvds.asp\">MCofS shop<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mountaineering Council of Scotland (MCofS) YouTube Channel reached the 100,000 downloads mark this week.
