{"id":6520,"date":"2012-03-09T05:28:56","date_gmt":"2012-03-09T05:28:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/?p=6520"},"modified":"2021-01-17T13:13:17","modified_gmt":"2021-01-17T13:13:17","slug":"snh-asks-how-scottish-wildlife-should-be-managed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/snh-asks-how-scottish-wildlife-should-be-managed\/","title":{"rendered":"SNH asks how Scottish wildlife should be managed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walkhighlands.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/squirrel1.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"squirrel\" width=\"310\" height=\"207\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6521\" \/>Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) launched a public survey this week, asking for feedback from those involved or interested in how Scotland\u2019s wildlife is managed.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone can respond to the survey, but it may be of particular interest to individuals and organisations with direct involvement with SNH on wildlife management activities and is likely to be relevant to many outdoor enthusiasts.<\/p>\n<p>Roger Burton, SNH\u2019s Wildlife Management programme manager, said: \u201cManaging wildlife is complex, involving many different interests, such as forestry, farming, conservation, recreation and tourism, and animal welfare. That\u2019s why it\u2019s important to us to hear the views of everyone involved. I hope people will take a few minutes to fill in the survey to let us know their thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SNH wants to gain a better understanding of wildlife management issues in Scotland, as well as find out views on its roles and services. SNH now has many responsibilities relating to wildlife management, including new roles involving deer and licensing, providing information on best practice, invasive non-native animals and species introductions.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the survey, SNH will hold a series of focus groups with stakeholder groups.
