The Commission manages around 9 per cent of Scotland&apos;s land area and is seeking views from the public about how deer should be managed on that land.<\/p>\n<p>From today (15 April) the Commission is asking for views on a new document outlining the organisation&apos;s proposed approach to managing deer over the next three years 2013-2016. The draft document, &#8220;Deer Management on the National Forest Estate \u2013 Current Practices and Future Directions&#8221; &#8211; aims to explain and broaden the level of understanding of why and how the Commission  manages deer.<\/p>\n<p>The draft document emphasizes:-<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Supporting social well-being and sustainable economic development<br \/>\n\u2022 Professional standards and working with others<br \/>\n\u2022 Sustainable deer management and how we manage deer<br \/>\n\u2022 Safeguarding the welfare of deer and the wider environment<br \/>\n\u2022 Deer stalking on the NFE<br \/>\n\u2022 Venison<\/p>\n<p>The Commission is looking to receive views on the current practices and future directions for deer management on the National Forest Estate. The consultation runs until 8 July 2013 and responses will be used to finalise the document and inform plans for taking forward implementation.
