So far we&#8217;ve donated \u00a3500 to mountain safety with two donations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a3250 to support the excellent education and hill-skills work carried out by the Mountaineering Council of Scotland, through its safety officer Heather Morning.<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a3250 to the Cairngorms Mountain Rescue team, who have just had an exceptionally busy winter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWhilst the primary aim of Walkhighlands is to provide the best possible free-to-use source of information for people interested in walking in Scotland, \u201d commented co-founder Helen Webster, \u201cwe\u2019re delighted to be able to do just a little to help the bodies which are carrying out a range of worthwhile work in 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later in the year a further \u00a3500 will given to help support the work of the John Muir Trust, as Walkhighlands plans to upgrade to become a Silver corporate member with an annual payment to the charity involved in both practical conservation work and campaigning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year we pledged that we would donate \u00a31000 to walking and conservation-related causes in 2013.
