It is in a quiet setting with excellent views of Loch Harport and the Cuillin hills, making it the ideal base for climbers and walkers, or for discovering the island's rich and historic past.

Within walking distance of the cottage there is a small grocery shop, post office and doctors' surgery as well as the Old Inn, a traditional pub serving light meals and snacks. Also in the village is Talsker Distillery, the one single malt distillery on Skye, with regular tours and tastings.
