1. Park in the large car park at the end of the Glen Affric minor road. This is a popular picnic site, and there are toilets available. This walk is a combination of the two routes shown on the interpretation board. Start with the blue, River Affric route, by following the signpost close to the boards. The path winds downhill and has good views of Loch Beinn a Mheadhoin. It winds down and around, soon coming close to where the River Affric flows sedately into the loch through a small gorge.

2. The path now heads right, keeping close to the river. Steps have been constructed to ease the route across the rocks, and there is a small waterfall just beyond. The waymarked route now leads right, heading uphill away from the river, passing a bench with a fine view before returning to the car park.

3. The second part of the walk is Am Meallan, waymarked in white. This starts opposite where the road led into the car park. The path soon forks; it doesn't matter which way you turn as the route is a loop. At the high point of the loop there is a memorial and viewpoint just over to the left. The memorial commemorates all the foresters who have worked on the restoration of the forest; the view is a magnificent vista up the glen, with the lower section of Loch Affric and the peak of Sgurr na Lapaich prominent. Complete the loop to return to the car park.
