Beinn a' Chaorainn (Cairngorms)

Beinn a' Chaorainn guards the eastern side of the famous Lairig an Laoigh pass through the Cairngorms. The slopes above the pass are steep, but south of the domed summit is the vast mossy plateau of the Moine Bhealaidh.

Beinn a' Chaorainn throws down craggy slopes to the Lairig an Laoigh, but can be ascended from just south of the pass, or from the Fords of Avon to the north. As with many of the central Cairngorms, approaches from many directions are possible, deterred mainly by the large distances involved.

It is linked at a high level by a huge expanse of exposed tundra to the great plateau of Beinn a' Bhuird.
