Meall Dearg (Aonach Eagach)

Meall Dearg is the central summit on the celebrated Aonach Eagach ridge. Usually reached as part of the hard scramble along the ridge en route to Sgòrr nam Fiannaidh, it can be ascended on its own by vertigo sufferers by an approach from the north side.

Other routes and challenges

Both the classic ridge traverse and the non-scrambers' routes are described in detail above. The only other real variation is make a much longer Aonach Eagach traverse by starting up the Devil's Staircase from Altnafeidh and reaching Am Bodach over Stob Mhic Mhartuin and Sron Gharbh.
