Mount Blair is a prominent landmark around Glen Shee and Glen Isla, its gradual dome topped by a transmitter mast. It provides a short and straightfoward hillwalk, with superb summit views.

There is parking in a layby on the B951 by the signs for the Perthshire / Angus border, and also around 100m east at the forest edge at NO154642. Begin the walk by heading east along the quiet road that links Glen Shee with Glen Isla; after 400m go through a gate into a field on the right. The first section through the field is on a muddy track, but the going soon becomes drier though the track is briefly indistinct as it climbs uphill.
Soon the route leads through a metal gate in a fence. The track becomes much clearer as the grass is left behind for heather moorland. Though the view ahead is always a slowly receeding hillside, looking back the panorama begins to really open up, especially towards the head of Glen Shee and the mountains beyond.
Soon the top of the transmitter mast on the summit comes into view ahead, and the gradient eases on the final slope up to the top. Here is a circular view indicator that reveals that upto 40 Munros can be seen on a clear day. There's also a trig point and a large cairn.
The views are superb; the head of Glen Shee still taking pride of place. Walking to the far side of the mast enclosure reveals a view out over lower Glen Isla with Strathmore and - on a clear day - Fife beyond. The easiest return route is to retrace your steps.
