This short but dramatic woodland walk runs high above the swirling waters of the River Findhorn and its gorge, giving views of the rapids and pools far below. The views of the river are obscured somewhat by leaves in the summer months. Care should be taken especially with children.
Steep cliffs with edge very near to path so care should be taken.

Car park just off A940 south of Forres marked Sluie Walk.
From the A940, south of Forres, look out for a small sign for Sluie Walk. Turn in here and to the right is a car park with information board. From here take the clear path into the pine trees. This soon reaches the track which heads towards the Mains of Sluie. Turn right and follow this downhill.
Turn left along a track marked Sluie Walk, and follow it when it swings right. There are tall pines on the right side of the track. A short way along take a signed path to the right into these pines. The path soon reaches the edge of the gorge, with dramatic glimpses to the Findhorn far below. Turn sharp left here to begin the walk above the gorge rim. Ignore a path heading off right down into the gorge.
Pass a bench and follow the path high above the River Findhorn. In winter the view of the river is clearer, but in summer there are only glimpses down to pools and rapids and the river can clearly be heard below. The cliffs on the far side are impressively steep and high.
Eventually a wooden barrier is reached. It is possible to continue ahead for more river views although the path is narrower; however our circular route turns sharp left here, heading slightly uphill. Keep left when a track joins and when another track is reached turn right following the arrow. At another t-junction turn left. This part was once a track but is now a narrow path, eventually swinging left. Beyond this the outward route is reached. Turn right and then right again onto the track from Mains of Sluie. Look out for the turning onto the path to the left which brings you back to the car park.
