Grass and aggregate footpaths with a few rocky sections.

Start
Thundergay.
There is limited parking opposite the access road to the tiny settlement of Thundergay. There are a few spaces further north by the Allt Mòr bridge; do not drive up the lane towards the houses. A signpost indicated the route up the track, which climbs before curving left and passing the last house by a gate, also signposted.
Head through the gate and onto the gently sloping grass path which traverses the bracken-clad slope heading towards one of the tributaries of Allt Mòr . Cross a ladder stile adjacent to a deer fence, with the wooded glen of Allt Mòr visible ahead.
The path could now be a bit muddy for a short distance before improving significantly thanks to recent restorative path work. Cross the burn via large stepping stones and turn sharply right, the Uisge Soluis Mhòir now on your right briefly before the good path leads to a further small ford. Cross this easily and the path almost immediately becomes rockier, with a rock staircase winding through the bracken and heather.
At the summit of the staircase the route leads over a series of granite slabs - potentially slippery in wet conditions - as the burn tumbles over similar slabs on the left. The going soon eases again on the well-constructed path, and the slopes of Meall Biorach and Meall Bhig draw the eye towards the corrie housing the lochan. Continue onwards along the pale gravel path to be met with a beautiful vista as Coire Fhionn Lochan comes into view. Take a break on the white beach before retracing your steps or continuing onto the neighbouring peaks.
