This fine shorter circular route features coastal walking and a steep climb to an Iron Age fort with good views. The route finishes with a pleasant return through farm and woodland.

This walk begins at the small car park at the end of the shore road from Lamlash to Clauchlands Farm via Margnaheglish. From here head through the gate to continue along the coast towards Clauchlands Point and the tiny Hamilton Isle. Reaching the point the track forks - take the left branch, but almost immediately turn right onto a rough path that climbs steeply to the remains of a World War II lookout.
Continue up the path - which is narrow and overgrown with bracken in summer, but gives tremendous views back to Holy Isle. Continue on this narrow path along the top of the cliffs, crossing a stile at one point.
After 1km the path heads steeply inland up the rocky natural ramparts of Dun Fionn to reach the summit trig point. Although little remains of the walls of the prehistoric fort which once stood here, the views show what a great strategic position it had. Continue by heading downhill on the inland side of the mound to soon reach a signed path junction. Turn right to reach Brodick via Corriegills or turn left down a grassy path signed for Lamlash to complete this circuit.
Follow the path downhill towards Lamlash Bay with Holy Isle a constant companion ahead to reach a field beyond a kissing gate. Head diagonally right down a faint path to reach a farm gate and stile at a small stream just uphill from the remains of a hedge. Cross the stile and aim diagonally downhill to the right heading for a stile just to the left of a cottage. Once over the stile turn right along the track to pass between the cottage and it's vegetable garden. Keep following the track as it bends left.
Where a track crosses to reach some holiday cottages to the right, keep straight ahead, there is now also another track to your left for a short distance separated by a fence. The track heads uphill briefly before descending towards a wooded burn. Look out for a stile on the left and cross this to descend to a small ford. Cross via the stepping stones and follow the path left on the far side. Emerging at a surfaced road alongside the cottages at Prospect Hill continue downhill to reach the shore road. Turn left to return to the car park.
