Forest walks car park off A944 just south of Glenbuchat Castle.

The car park for these walks in Gordon Woodlands is off from the A944, about 1.5km south of the turn off for Glenbuchat Castle if travelling from Mossat and 2km from the A97/A944 junction if heading north/east. From the car park take the path heading up into the forest which is waymarked in three colours. The route described here is waymarked in yellow. Keep straight ahead on the grassy track through the trees, ignoring the red marker pointing left. Watch out for a waymarked turn to the left and continue gently uphill on this path, then bear right up a rough track. When this emerges on a wider forestry track turn right and continue around the hill.
The route now follows a track on the edge of the plantation with good views over Strathdon. Eventually the track swings left, heading towards Ben Newe now seen straight ahead. Look out for a yellow wamarker that indicates an old track climbing into the dense trees on the left. Take this, continuing straight on when a track joins from your right. The track starts to head downhill, continue straight ahead at a turning area, and follow the edge of the forest.
Ignore another track coming up from the right, then shortly afterwards look out for the waymarked turn to the right which takes you onto the footpath used earlier in the walk. Follow this back down through the trees to the car park, turning right at the waymarked junction.
