Buidhe Bheinn
Hear pronunciation Press to hear pronunciation
Buidhe Bheinn is a very rugged mountain rising to the north of Kinloch Huorn. For many years it was regarded jointly as a Corbett with Sgùrr a Bhac Chaolais in Kintail, since surveys had both at the same height, though the drop between them is not enough to justify making them two separate Corbetts. A survey in 2012 revealed that Buidhe Bheinn is the higher; it is a magnificent viewpoint, particularly the western top which is erroneously marked at 897m on some OS maps.

Detailed route description and map
Buidhe Bheinn from Kinloch Hourn
Other routes and challenges
Kinloch Huorn is the usual starting point as described. An alternative is to combine the hill with Sgùrr a’ Bhac Chaolais for an ascent from Kintail – but this is a long expedition as the linking ridge is tough going.
