Foinaven circuit from Gualin House
Other routes and challenges
The most usual route is to follow the track down into Strath Dionard from near Gualin House on the A838. The main ridge can be gained by a steep and rough climb. A faster - but steep - route back is down the north ridge, bypassing steep ground on the west side. These two routes are combined in the circuit above.
The classic, epic route is a complete traverse of the mountain, gaining the Bealach Horn initially by using the track and path from Lone on Loch Stack, and then traversing the ridge to reach Ganu Mòr - finished with a descent to Gualin House if transport can be arranged..
