Goat Fell (or Goatfell, as preferred by locals) is the highest of the Arran mountains and as such is very popular. It is a magnificent summit and linked by wonderful ridges to the other peaks of the range.

Goatfell can also be approached via a steep scramble up the Cioch na h-Oighe ridge, continuing via Mullach Buidhe and North Goatfell; the Sannox Horseshoe route describes this as far as North Goatfell.
Another challenging option is a complete horseshoe around Glen Rosa, beginning with Goatfell and continuing over Cir Mhor and Beinn Tarsuinn; again the Sannox Horseshoe route describes the section from North Goatfell over to Cir Mhor.
