A very short and popular walk into the Campsie Glen with the option to extend it to include a steep climb and waterfall walk. Refreshments, toilets and bike hire at start.
Easy level path, optional extension is steep but on good paths.

Campsie Glen car park, Clachan of Campsie, west of Lennoxtown.
If driving, follow the signs for Clachan of Campsie from the A891 west of Lennoxtown. There is a car park at the far end of the road as well as on-street parking. An excellent tea shop, and bike hire and craft shop make this a popular destination in addition to the Glen itself. Just to the left of the tea shop building as you face away from the car park you can visit St Machan's Church and churchyard. St Machan founded the church here in the 6th century having arrived from Ireland. The churchyard contains the impressive Lennox mausoleum built in 1715 for the owners of nearby Lennox Castle.
Start the walk by heading to the right of the tea room to pass the toilet and follow the path into the Campsie Glen. At the fork keep straight ahead, the path heading up to the right provides a longer option as it climbs steeply to the car park on the B822 from where another path leads to a waterfalls. As a reward for the climb, there is often an ice cream van at the car park as well as great views and the option of crossing the road to climb high on the Campsie Fells escarpment.
This route follows the lower path into the Campsie Glen where there are a number of good picnic spots amongst the mature trees. It used to be possible to follow a path much further up the Glen but this has now been blocked off due to the risk of rock falls in the gorge so turn round at the wooden hand sign and retrace your steps to the start.
