Mona Gowan is the highest point of the billowing range of hills on the east side of the A939 pass between Glen Gairn and Strathdon. Near to the summit is the giant Jubilee Cairn, erected for Queen Victoria' Jubilee in 1887. The hill can be climbed using a track from Strath Don to the north, or across more featureless moorland from the A939 near Glenfenzie to the west.
