Climb forestry tracks to eventually reach open views with a wonderful outlook over Loch Ness and down the Great Glen. The route would also make a good though strenuous mountain bike route, speeding through long forestry sections where the views are more limited.

The A82 between Fort William and Inverness is served by buses throughout its length.

From the car park (next to Village Hall with toilets) in Invermoriston cross the main A82 road with care and turn left on the pavement on the far side. After a short distance take the path downhill to the right, leading to the old bridge over the river, built by Thomas Telford in 1813. It took 8 years to build according to Telford because of the, "languid and inattentive contractors" - Telford himself was renowned as something of a workaholic. Cross the bridge - with good views of the waterfalls - then turn left when it meets an entrance drive, and then right along the minor road to Dalcataig.
At Dalcataig take the lower track on the right and continue ahead at the next junction soon reaching a gate and continuing alongside the River Moriston. The river is popular with salmon fishermen but you can sometimes also spot osprey that fish the river for the same prey. When the track forks stay on the main left hand track through dense fir plantations.
The track crosses a small bridge as it climbs steadily uphill. Keep straight ahead always staying on the main track. When a T junction is reached turn left to again stay on main track. As the track swings sharply left further up there are some views up Glen Moriston towards the mountains of Kintail.
Continue along the track; the gradient eases for a time. Ignore a newer track off right uphill, instead staying on the main old track which curves left at one point. Eventually, after a steeper section, the track emerges from the dense trees to reach open moorland. The track is marked by snow poles as it heads over the moors, with just occasional trees.
The mast at the summit can be seen clearly ahead. The track takes a gentle route circling to the south of the summit with extensive views across the Great Glen; there are great views looking back along Loch Ness on the final section. The summit has a large fenced compound containing the mast; the best views are really just before you reach it. Sròn na Muic means the nose of the pig in Gaelic.
The return is by the same outward route retracing the main track down through the forest and eventually running alongside the river and back along the road from Dalcataig.
