This fine coastal walk heads out onto the grassy headland at St Baldred's Cradle - the site of an ancient cairn with great views out to the Bass Rock. The walk then heads for the beautiful Ravensheugh Sands before returning to the start.

The walk begins from the Tyninghame Links car park, at the end of the minor road known as Lime Tree walk (off the A198). Begin the walk by heading to the far end of the car park, following the track that curves to the right. It immediately reaches two gates; go through the left one, to continue along a tree-lined track. Ignore a track off to the left, continuing ahead until the shore is reached.
Turn left to follow the rough path which runs parallel to the coastline, weaving between the trees and a line of old tank traps. Near the far end of the woods a junction is reached - the path ahead is blocked at high tide, in which case you need to head left to meet a track then right through a gateway in a stone wall. Back in the open, turn right along the path round the headland.
The path leads out onto the grassy headland; the massive grassy mound on the left being the remains of an ancient cairn. At the point there is a seat which makes a great place to take a break and enjoy the stunning views out over the sea and to the Bass Rock. St Baldred was an 8th century monk who once inhabited a cell out on the Rock.
Follow the path as it continues round the northern side of the headland. If the tide is right out it soons becomes possible to drop down onto a beach; otherwise, keep on the rough path until after a rocky cliff which blocks the beach route when the tide is in.
If on the inland path, pass some tank traps and then aim for the area of pine trees from which it is usually easier to reach Ravensheugh Sands beyond. The walk now continues along the beach (this section may not be possible at high tides).
Continue along the beach until the wall of dunes relents and it is possible to ascend over the dunes and drop down to a track behind them.
Turn left along this track. Eventually it curves to the right and then reaches a t-junction; turn left here to continue along the track back to the car park.
