The Torrieston forest walks are set in Monaughty Wood, a short distance along the glen from Pluscarden Abbey. There are two waymarked loops; the route combines both.

Torrieston Car park is around 3km east of Pluscarden Abbey, the only medieval monastery in Britain that still has a working order of Benedictine Monks. There is a picnic area here and information board detailing the two walks; our route takes the green Black Douglas Fir Avenue Trail loop first, and then finishes with the white Black Burn trail. Head up through the picnic area to reach a junction with a path running across the hillside - turn right along this.
Soon the path forks - take the left branch. This path leads uphill, keep right when another path joins in. Eventually a track is reached - turn right along this. After another 300m, turn right onto a path heading into denser pines. At yet another junction, turn right - still following the green markers.
The path now runs along the hillside, with some views across the glen. The outward route is rejoined at the fork - keep ahead here, then take the next left to head back down to the car park. To begin the second loop, cross the road and take path into the woods on the opposite side, waymarked in white.
When a junction is reached with a picnic bench, turn left. Soon the path crosses a footbridge over the Black Burn. Continue along the path, keeping right at the next junction. The path continues to loop round, eventually reaching a second footbridge over the burn. Beyond this it soon reaches the junction with the picnic bench reached earlier; keep ahead to retrace your steps back to the start.
