Ben Lomond is one of the most familiar and popular of the Munros, its fine summit being in clear view from the south end of the Loch at Balloch. Whilst the path is wide and busy up the slopes, the summit is dramatically situated above a steep corrie and the views over the Loch are unsurpassed.

Other routes and challenges
The route above follows the extremely popular path up the south ridge, before descending via the rougher Ptarmigan ridge. These two routes are by far the most commonly used.
A little-used, pathless and strenuous alternative is from the foot of Loch Chon to the east. Head up to Comer before ascending the south side of the eastern corrie.
