Bidean nam Bian is more a mountain range than a single mountain, a huge and complex mass of dramatic crags, ridges and summits towering on the south side of Glen Coe. The main summit is hidden from the road behind the Three Sisters - three great prows - and the top of Stob Coire nan Lochain.

Other routes and challenges

As would be expected of such a complex mountain, there are many alternative routes, though the steep and rugged terrain means special care must be taken in route selection. From Achnambeithach a path leads up into Coire nam Beitheach; from here scree slopes lead to the bealach between Stob Coire nan Lochan and the main summit.

Scramblers can tackle the zig-zag route on the east side of Gearr Aonach - visible from the Glencoe road but harder to locate closer up. Head into the Lost Valley to reach the foot of this route.
