One of the remotest Munros, Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich is a magnificent peak hidden away in the wilderness above Loch Monar. Reaching its foot from any direction is arduous, with much ascent and descent.

Other routes and challenges

All approaches to this pair of Munros are extremely long. One variation is to start from Craig in Strathcarron, heading over the Bealach Bhearnais, traversing Beinn Tharsuinn and then tackling the scramble up through two rock bands to Bidean a' Choire Sheasgaich. Inclusion of Lurg Mhòr - and a return the same way makes this a truly epic outing.

The eastern side of Lurg Mhòr is made even more remote by Loch Monar. The east ridge up over Meall Mòr from Pait Lodge involves some airy, tricky scrambling on slabs.
