Other routes and challenges
All approaches to this pair of Munros are extremely long. One variation is to start from Craig in Strathcarron, heading over the Bealach Bhearnais, traversing Beinn Tharsuinn and then tackling the scramble up through two rock bands to Bidean a'Choire Sheasgaich. Inclusion of Lurg Mhor - and a return the same way makes this a truly epic outing.
The eastern side of Lurg Mhor is made even more remote by Loch Monar. The east ridge up over Meall Mor from Pait Lodge involves some airy, tricky scrambling on slabs.
