Mullach an Rathain (Liathach)

Mullach an Rathain is the westernmost of the two Munros on the ridge of Liathach, one of the very finest in the Highlands. It offers tremendous views down Loch Torridon and the sea as a reward for the tackling of its extremely steep slopes.

The flanks of the ridge are exceptionally steep, and the cliffs between the sandstone terraces are hard to see from above; this deters ascents and descents via other routes.

It is possible to make a non-scrambling ascent to Mullach an Rathain by heading up the Coire Mhic Nobuil path and then ascending Sgòrr na Chadail from the northern side - see trip reports.
