Other routes and challenges

The northeast ridge would give a more gradual ascent than the usual route via Coire an Lochain. Maps show an old stalkers path climbing over Meall Doire na h-Achalis but the very long distances mean that few would attempt this approach.

The classic epic challenge for the hyper-fit is to traverse the whole Mamores ridge in a day - a major undertaking. Sgùrr Èilde Mòr - one of the two eastern outliers from the ridge - is often included.
