Tolmount looks a fine cone-like peak when seen from Loch Callater; otherwise it is a twin to its close neighbour Tom Buidhe - a simple rounded dome-like upthrust on the wide Mounth plateau.

Other routes and challenges

There are several alternative options for climbing Tolmount and its neighbour. One is to start from Glen Doll at the head of Glen Clova, approaching via Jock's Road over Crow Craigies.

Another longer option is to include this pair of Munros with the Glas Maol group of 4, making a total of 6 Munros on an outing from the top of the Cairnwell Pass.
