Summary

Bowfell is one of the best-known summits in Lakeland, a grand mountain rising at the head of Great Langdale, the district's most popular valley for walkers. The most usual route of ascent is via the east ridge, known as the Band, though there is an interesting option branching off to the right known as the Climber's Traverse - an route that gives access to Bowfell Buttress for rockclimbers as well as an interesting route to the summit for walkers via the edge of the Great Slab.

There are 1883 Walkhighlanders who have climbed Bowfell. They have contributed 42 public walk reports including this summit. These are ordered below with the most popular ones first. The rightmost column shows how many summits were included in their report, which may help you to find the most relevant reports.
