Scafell may be overtopped by nearby Scafell Pike but nevertheless it is the grandest mountain in England and the magnificent Scafell Crag is also the country's finest. The crag is celebrated as a rock-climbing mecca but there are routes for adventurous walkers and scramblers here too. The direct descent from Scafell to the ridge linking with the Pike should be avoided unless the party has rock-climbing skills as it includes the dangerous descent of Broad Stand.
There are 1805 Walkhighlanders who have climbed Scafell. They have contributed 29 public walk reports including this summit. These are ordered below with the most popular ones first. The rightmost column shows how many summits were included in their report, which may help you to find the most relevant reports.
