This short woodland stroll from the planned village of Aberchirder (also known as Foggieloan or just Foggie) rises gently to reach a fine viewpoint over the strath of the River Deveron. Locals simply call it 'The Hill'.

The walk begins from the western end of North Street, where there is a parking area, and an information board giving details of the woods and walk. Begin the walk by heading up the main track to the left of the sign, climbing up through the trees. When the route forks stay on the main, right-hand branch. The route passes a bench as it continues gently uphill; ignore a path off right.
The woods are being managed by a local community assocation, which is working to remove non-native species and expand wildflowers. An old ruin is the remains of a Second World War observation post; fork left to reach an attractive shelter building. After visiting this, pass to the right of the enclosed waterworks, soon rejoining the main path.
The path swings left around the far end of the hill; there is a picnic area, and great views over the countryside and River Deveron.
The path passes another bench as it cuts across the eastern flank of the hill. The outward route is rejoined just before the parking area at the start is reached.
