This easy-going linear coastal walk traces the coastline south from Innerbervie, passing Gourdon harbour and continuing on to Johnshaven. The return can be made by bus.

The walk starts from the square off the main street at the northern end of Inverbervie, where there is car parking, bus stop and war memorial. Head past the memorial, through the car park and straight ahead down High Street Close. Turn right at the bottom onto David Street, and then left at the Give Way and crossroads, following this road towards the seafront. Just before the front, turn right to head along the cycleway between the houses on your right and grass on your left. Soon the seafront is reached with good views back over Bervie Bay. Continue along the coast on the cycleway, if you prefer there is a rougher alternative path closer to the sea.
Continue until the houses at Gourdon come into view and just before a small green metal shed with aerial on the left, leave the cycleway here to take the grassy path nearer the sea. Follow this to reach the road at the front of Gourdon, passing the house with the lookout tower. Continue ahead through the streets of this old fishing village, passing the Maggie Law maritime museum, to reach the harbour, which dates back to 1820.
Continue behind the Harbour Bar signed for the Off Road cycle route 1. Pass some small warehouses keeping the sea on your left and after the last house the track becomes a wide grassy path with a fence on your right.
After another 3.5km the walk passes a small group of houses at the Haughs of Benholm. Continue on the track ahead, soon with a drystone wall on your right and the sea on your left. The route passes an entrance to the private school seen up on the right and then vehicle barrier, becoming tarred as it runs alongside Wairds Park caravan park.
Finally Johnshaven is reached; continue past the houses to reach a seafood takeway, heritage centre, cafe and harbour. Turn right when you reach the harbour to head up towards the Anchor pub and then shop. The bus stop opposite the pub is where the return bus to Inverbervie can be caught, alternatively return along the same route.
