This straightforward circular walk from Brodick leads through some lovely woodland, reaches a fine viewpoint, and returns along forestry roads and good footpaths.

Brodick is the main ferry port on Arran, and the hub for buses.
Invercloy car park (behind Coop on seafront), Brodick.
The walk begins from the Invercloy car park which is on the seaward side of the A841, behind the Coop on the coast. There are public toilets here, as well as access to the beach and playpark. Begin the walk by walking back past the Coop to the A841, turning right along it and then almost immediately sharp left. Pass the Old Post Office and continue up Alma Road.
At a road junction turn right up Mid Mayish (footpath sign for Lamlash). When this ends, with tracks heading off right and left, ignore both and take the rougher track into the woodland ahead. This leads through some lovely deciduous trees, and becomes a path. Ignore two paths off left (signed for Pond Orchard), and then one off right, to reach a footbridge beside a ford; cross this.
On the far side the path climbs gently once more, soon reaching a car parking area with a view indicator for the dramatic outlook looking back to Arran's mountains. From this, turn right to take a path that continues uphill, running parallel to the road (off to your left). This soon reaches another track, with a car park on your right. Take the track straight ahead, signed for Lamlash. This soon forks - go right here, signed for Glen Cloy; keep right at the works beyond.
The track takes a gradually descending line through the forestry, with some more open views, passing a picnic table at one point. Keep right at junction, and when the track swings left uphill ignore it and take the path ahead (bearing right). Soon the conifers are replaced by deciduous trees, and the path leads across a footbridge. Further on it leaves the woods by heading through a pedestrian gate into a field.
Leave the field at another pedestrian gate at the far end, then going straight ahead along a track. When it curves to the left, leave the track and fork right onto a path into the trees once more. Soon this comes alongside a fence with a field on your left. Eventually the path emerges on a track - keep right along this, passing some of the accommodation for the Auchrannie Resort. When a tarmac road is reached turn right along it, then turn right again at the main A841 to return to the start.
