This straightforward walk uses well-made paths to visit the spectacular mountain landscapes of North Glen Sannox. There are several beautiful pools in the river.

The walk begins from the car park beside the bridge over the North Sannox Burn. Before starting, look down from the bridge, as the burn has some beautiful pools. Follow the pale path leading into the forest from the far right corner of the carpark. Follow the excellent constructed path from the far right corner of the carpark.
Keep left as the path forks by a footbridge (the right branch leads to a bench), and continue along the path, passing through a gate into the forest. The burn is particularly beautiful, with some fine waterfalls and deep pools, some of them popular with wild swimmers. There are several attractive waterfalls as the gorge becomes narrower and deeper.
Eventually the top of the forestry is reached and the path exits via a gate. The views now open out; the distinctive cleft of Ceum na Caillich (also known as the Witch's Step) is obvious on the dramatic ridgeline, as well as the tors of Caisteal Abhail. The good path ends at a fence; from here the going is rougher and rockier. It's worthwhile for further waterfalls, as well as the views into Coire nan Ceum. Eventually even this rougher path thins; unless continuing to summit Caisteal Abhail by the Càrn Mòr ridge it is best to retrace your steps.
