The rounded slopes of Morven rise high above its lesser neighbours between Ballater and Strathdon. Its outlying position to the east of the Cairngorms makes it a very prominent hill when seen from the east, and an excellent viewpoint.

Morven can be combined with neighbouring Graham summit, Mona Gowan. One option for this is to start from the A939 road at Glenfender, from where tracks aid access towards both hills.
