The route given above could be just the start of a long traverse of the Awful Hand range, the ridge running southwards and linking to the Merrick.
An alternative approach is from Kirriereoch to the southwest, enabling a circuit that includes Kirriereoch Hill. The approach involves forestry and some boggy going.
