This excellent waymarked circular walk through the Craigieburn Forest gives some fine views over Moffat Dale.

The walk begins from the forestry parking area at Craigieburn Forest, 4km east of Moffat on the A708 road towards Selkirk. The walk is waymared in orange and begins up the track into the forest plantations.
When a track junction is reached turn sharply left. When the track ends at a grassy turning area keep ahead, then bear right onto a waymarked path. This can be muddy in places, and climbs up to reach a corner in a drystone wall. From here it runs along the upperside of the wall, giving excellent views down Moffat Dale. Eventually the path leaves the wall and climbs to the right into the trees once more.
Soon it approaches another wall at the upper limit of the trees. It curves to the right here, keeping by the wall but staying within the plantation. At one point it veers right, but soon swings left and then leaves the trees behind and there are fine open views to the west.
Continue along the grassy path, which soon reaches a turning area and then continues as a track. It climbs slightly. Ignore a path off right and remain on the track until it reaches a junction.
Here turn right onto the main track heading downhill - there is an orange waymarker. The track soon gives excellent views across the valley, and is fringed by more native trees.
At another track junction turn right to follow the main track back down, rejoining the outward route at a junction (keep left fork here) to return to the car park.
