Torrs Warren is a forestry plantation at the back of Luce Bay. This walk follows a long section of forest track before heading to the edge of the dunes and to Ringdoo Point. It is not waymarked and - although easy to follow to the point - the alternative route back could be difficult to locate.

The Torrs Warren forestry plantations help to stabilise the dune system at the back of Luce Bay - the dunes themselves are part of a military range. There is a car park at the start of the entrance track but the walks themselves are not waymarked. To begin, follow the stony track through the gate under the height barriers.
The track soon enters the dense plantations, which can make for slightly monotonous walking. After a turning area the stony surface of the track ends and the going becomes easier underfoot on an earth track. After 2.5km from the start, a clear junction is reached. Here turn right onto a path which soon leads to the edge of the forest on the fringe of the grassy dune system. The dunes ahead are a firing range (heed the warning signs) but there is a path along the edge on the safer side of the fence. Turn left to head to Ringdoo Point.
From Ringdoo Point it is possible to look out over the tidal reaches of upper Luce Bay. Retrace your steps back along the path between the dunes and forest. The safe way back is to reverse the outward route the whole way, though it is possible to continue along the dune/forest fringe by the fence. The problem with the latter option is that there are no landmarks to indicate which of several forest rides will take you back to the outward route, and if you head too far there is every chance of becoming lost in the forest - make sure you take a ridge back inland to rejoin the track within 1.5km or so of Ringdoo Point.
