The steep but easy climb to the summit of Meikle Bin rewards with excellent views over the reservoir and surrounding fields. Popular with families, it is a good challenge for little legs.

There is parking at the northern end of the Carron Valley Reservoir, opposite the entrance to Todholes Farm, on the B818 Fintry to Denny road. From here follow the forestry track past the vehicle barrier and the dam. Keep left at the first junction and keep straight ahead at the next one ignoring the grassier track to the right.
Soon the Carron River is crossed and the summit of Meikle Bin can be seen over to the right. Bear right at the next junction to start climbing gently uphill. Stay on the main track ignoring a track to the right and then when the track forks take the right hand branch to aim south west through the forest.
As the track climbs there is a clear view of Meikle Bin ahead and when there is a break in the trees on the right the escarpment and Double Craigs on the Fintry Hills can be seen. Look out for a newly built gravelly path the left. Follow this as it winds uphill through the trees.
Once clear of the trees, the path becomes boggy. The route climbs steadily with the views behind getting more impressive with each step. On a clear day the peaks of Ben Ledi and Ben Lomond can be seen in the distance.
The summit can't be seen until the final approach, it is marked with a trig point. From here there is a great view in all directions. It is possible to continue down the far side to pick up forestry tracks leading back to the start, but navigation is not easy and most people opt to retrace the outward route back to the start.
