A short stroll across the machair leads out to Dùn Morbhaidh, the site of an ancient fort with a great position looking up and down the coastline. There's a sandy beach nearby too.

The hardest part of this short walk is finding the right place from which to start. There is space on the north side verge of the B8072 at NM236629, just before the start of a fence (and a gate); beyond this the rough ground on the north side of the road becomes a perfect greensward. Begin from here, starting to the left of the fence and following the base of the rocky ground on your left and the green pasture on your right. When the rocky slope on your left relents, head through a gap on a grassy track. This soon leads to the coast. Dun Morbhaidh is the prominent little rocky knoll seen ahead.
The climb up onto the top of the hillock is very brief but rough. Only scant traces of the walls which once enclosed the top still survive - on the west side - so the main reward for the layman explorer today is the excellent vantage point looking up and down the rugged coastline of Coll.
The walk is short so there should be plenty of opportunity to explore the coastline further. Before heading back it is worth exploring the tiny sandy beach seen just to the east before returning across the machair.
