This short walk from the ferry slip at Port Mòr on Muck heads above a pathless stretch of coastline to visit the site of what may have been a medieval fort.

Walking onto Muck from the ferry terminal, turn left along the track. This leads through the island's main settlement, Port Mòr , with several houses. Pass the old ferry pier, the Green Shed gift shop and the island's cafe (if you can resist the chocolate cake) - the latter is a stone building with picnic tables outside.
Keep along the road until a junction - turn left here, signed for the hotel. It passes beneath the remains of a chapel and the island cemetery. When the track forks take the right hand branch which climbs uphill, curving right as it passes a stone-built house. The track continues to climb; at the bend before it reaches a house at the top of the hill, leave the track and instead head left (SE) along the open grassy ridge.
Continue along the left edge of the ridge - with rough going underfoot in places, though sheep-paths are some help - until it descends towards the distinctive outcrop of Caisteal an Duin Bhain. This circular, flat-topped mound has obvious defensive advantages, and there are sections of old stonework still to be seen - thought to date back to medieval times.
After visiting the dun, return the same way back along the ridge to head back to Port Mòr .
