Am Faochagach
Hear pronunciation Press to hear pronunciation
Am Faochagach is a rounded Munro to the north of the Dirrie Mor (Ullapool) road. The main difficulty is the short approach across the first flat section of moor- there are bogs and a potentially difficult river crossing to negotiate. The ascent of the peak itself is more straightforward.

Other routes and challenges
The river crossing can be avoided by using a much longer ascent route from the Loch Glascarnoch dam. Follow the track on the north side of the loch before striking up to Tom Ban Beag and then on up to the ridge. A track along the crest begins from Strathvaich Lodge, but using the full length of this would make the ascent extremely long.
