Carn nan Gobhar is a rounded hill on the north Strathfarrar ridge. The generally easy slopes are topped with a summit area covered in awkward angular boulders. There are good views over the Beauly and Cromarty Firths.

Despite the access restrictions on the route as described from Glen Strathfarrar, the remoteness of the upper reaches of Glen Orrin is enough to discourage most walkers from attemping any ascent from the north - though stalkers' paths from Strathconon may help.
